Dr Julia Beresford



Dr Beresford is our most experienced GP and Senior partner at the practice.

She qualified in 1988 In Southampton, came to Wycliffe Surgery as a GP registrar in 1991 and has worked at the practice ever since.

She does minor surgery including joint injections as well as coil fittings.

Like all the GP's at the surgery, she values time with her family and keeps fit by walking and cycling, especially along local coastal routes and Dartmoor.

Dr Christian Gossel


Dr Gossel trained in Aachen, Germany and completed his postgraduate training in the Cambridge Deanery. He has extensive international work experience and has been in the UK since 1999.

He is an experienced generalist with extended training in gastro-enterology, paediatrics and gynaecology.

As well as doing minor surgery, joint injections and fitting coils and implants at the surgery, he works as an endoscopist at Torbay Hospital.

In addition he a trainer for undergraduate and postgraduate students, including GP registrars and sessional GPs.

Dr Debbie Chapman



Dr Chapman trained in Johannesburg, South Africa including one of the biggest and busiest hospitals in the Southern Hemisphere - Baragwaneth Hospital, situated in a township called Soweto. She qualified in 2000 before coming over to the UK in 2002.

She has extended training in general medicine and completed a higher medical degree, the MRCP, following which she worked as a medical registrar at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. She changed from hospital medicine to General Practice in 2008 and loves the challenges of being a generalist and managing health problems holistically.

She also enjoys her role as a trainer at the practice, mentoring postgraduate doctors training to be GPs as well as medical students.

She is passionate about photography which she indulges in her spare time and some of her images, all taken in Devon, brighten up the walls of the surgery.

Dr Michaela Stoffregen


Dr Stoffregen is from a small town in the Black Forest region of Germany, which has many similarities with this beautiful part of Devon.

She graduated from the University of Mainz in 1999 and came to England in 2001 where she has completed all of her clinical training.

She worked in a variety of medical specialities and went on to achieve a postgraduate higher medical qualification, the MRCP before entering GP training in Plymouth in 2008.

Dr Stoffregen likes all aspects of general practice but has a particular interest in children, having done the Child Health Diploma.

She loves spending time with her two lively boys and husband including swimming, running, gardening and cycling

Dr Louise Crane (f)


MbChB (MRCGP-Aug 2017) DRCOG

Dr Crane grew up in Plymouth and qualified from the University of Glasgow in 2009.

She joined the Royal Navy whilst at University, leaving in 2016 after training posts in Derriford Hospital and completing general duties as a medical officer.

She enjoys the challenges of general practice, and joins the practice newly qualified and keen to pursue particular interests in women’s health, care of people with dementia and musculoskeletal medicine.

Her spare time is enjoyed either at the coast or on Dartmoor, but always with her husband and young son.
