Meningitis Outbreak – Information for our Patients

You may be aware of concerns following the recent meningitis outbreak in Kent. UKHSA has confirmed 20 cases and is currently running a targeted MenB vaccination programme only for students living in halls of residence at the University of Kent. There is not a wider public programme at this time. As of yet there are also no confirmed cases outside of Kent.

UKHSA has said the programme may expand as they continue to assess the situation, but no broader rollout has yet been announced.

If you wish to find out your vaccination history, you can do this via the NHS app or by contacting the surgery.

Please be advised we are unable to offer MenB vaccinations unless guidance changes. We will still be offering routine vaccinations for this as part of the baby immunisation schedule.

Patients are eligible for the Meningitis A,C,W,Y vaccination from 14-25 years old if not already had this in school. We can do this at the surgery if missed. Any children 12-14 years will have this done at school routinely.
